About:

Born near the Curragh, and a pupil at Ireland's Racing School at 15, Paul's career as a jockey started with a bang when his first ride was a winner for Reg Akehurst. He also forged a successful association with another wise and widely respected trainer in Milton Bradley. Their winners included Salviati in Ascot's valuable Hong Kong Jockey Club Sprint Showcase Handicap of 2003.

Paul took over the licence at Saxon Gate Stables on the very sad passing of his longtime partner Julia Tooth. They had worked together in the business for seven years. "We've named our new yard in memory of Julia," said Paul.

Determined to make a success of the training operation, Paul is very much hands on."I'm combining old and new techniques linked in to my experience as a jockey," he says."These are difficult times for everyone in racing, but I'll work as hard as possible to get results."
