About:

James is a vet who began his racing career as Assistant Trainer to Mark Johnston. After three years in this job he won a scholarship to study training methods in Dubai. James started training in his own right in November 1998 from a yard based at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

In April 1999 he moved his operation to his current base in Lincolnshire. He has already achieved considerable success with victories in races such as the Group 2 Flying Childers, won by Wunders Dream, the Tote Cambridgeshire Handicap won by I Cried For You & the Tote Ebor Handicap, won by Hugs Dancer. the 2001/2 season saw Jessica's Dream become a dual Group 3 winner at Cork and in Italy.

Further success during the 2003 season, such as winning the Chester Cup with Hugs Dancer, achieving a Classic placing with Summitville in the Oaks who was also 2nd in The Sun Chariot Stakes Group 1, at Newmarket, in 2005. In 2006 and 2007 the yard continued to fly with a superb run of performances from Trick Or Treat where she gained five wins in a row. She retired from racing with a Group 3 win at Ascot.

Following firmly in her footsteps in 2008 was Lady Gloria, twice a Group 3 winner and showing a valiant run at Longchamp in a Group 1, where she finished a very creditable 5th.

More recently in 2010 and 2011, Indian Days won the Bosphorous Cup Group 2 in Istanbul, Turkey. All of which has seen his client base of racehorse owners continue to expand and the operation is now spread over two yards with facilities for up to 75 horses.
