About:

Burcott Riding Centre was established in 1970 by Mrs Molly Payne and started as a family run riding school. Local children, adults, schools and clubs all benefited from her instruction. The school was soon, and still is B.H.S approved. Now the School is run by partners Nikki Stephens and Bob Andrews who live on site. We also offer livery, both full and working, plus breaking, schooling and pre-training for racehorses. Our aim is to provide an experienced and thorough service no matter what you or your horse needs. We pride ourselves on keeping up to date with the best of modern practices without forgetting that nothing beats experience, and a sensible outlook. Full Livery: At Burcott we offer a full livery option. Your horse will be looked after by us completely. Feeding, mucking out, turning out, catching up etc will all be done by Burcott. All stables have rubber mats, and there is a choice of bedding-shavings or straw. Haylage and hay are used-hay can be soaked. A wide range of feedstuffs are kept but specialist supplements must be provided. Horses are turned out for some part of the day for 3/4 of the year. In winter they are stabled at night and in summer you may like to have your horse out at night. In the worst of the winter weather we will turn your horse out in our chip pen or put the horse on the horse walker, whichever you prefer. Farriers visit the yard each week. You may use our vet or your own. We have regular visits from the horse dentist. Working Livery: Working livery suits the busy owner or someone on a tighter budget. In return for using your horse to teach lessons on we will look after it just as we would a full livery. We are careful how many times we use your horse and who rides it. There is usually no problem with when you want to ride your horse yourself. Breaking and Schooling: We have excellent facilities for breaking as we have two round pens and the canter track for initial long reining work. You may visit your horse at any time and to see it work. If you plan to ride the horse yourself we make sure you are confident and can manage before the pair of you go home. We can also do home visits if there are any little problems. Horses and ponies are also taken for short or long stay schooling visits. Putting some polish on, for instance on the flat or teaching horses to jump is not a problem. You may want your horse to compete or just get used to working in company.
